Federal and CA Prison Designations
Influence The Where! - Going to Prison
When an AER client is going to prison in either a Federal Bureau of Prisons or CA prison, our staff of prison consultants works tirelessly to get them designated to an institution that best suits their needs and circumstances. While policies exist in the Federal Bureau of Prisons and CA prison system to keep inmates close to their families, overcrowding has rendered these policies virtually meaningless. This makes retaining AER’s experienced team of prison consultants more important than ever.
Designation Positioning
AER is expert at positioning our clients for favorable designation. Our staff will work with your attorneys to obtain specific and properly justified Judicial Recommendations. We know what the Federal Bureau of Prisons Designation and Sentence Computation Center (DSCC) and CA prison Classification Staff Representatives (CSRs) look for with regards to placement. Additionally, we have cultivated an extensive network of administrative contacts in both organizations that we can call upon in an effort to influence your designation.
The accuracy of your Pre-Sentence Report is also a critical component of the designation process. AER’s experienced prison consultants will make sure that, if you are going to prison, there are no errors in your custody classification scoring and that your criminal history is fairly and accurately portrayed and scored.
Security Level Analysis
Erroneous Public Safety Factors (PSFs) and Management Variables (MGTVs) can seriously affect your designation, security level and entire term of incarceration. They each need to be professionally scrutinized and addressed and AER will make sure the Federal Bureau of Prisons and CA prison evaluation staff does not misclassify you. Incorrect PSFs and MGTVs can also impact your ability to request near-release prison transfers and furloughs, among other things.
The prison consultants at AER will also ensure that your CA prison counselor and CSR evaluate your ongoing medical issues properly for Enhanced Out-Patient (EOP) status and that they carefully consider your eligibility for sentence reduction programs such as Conservation Camp (“Fire Camp”). We make sure you get proper RDAP consideration in the Federal Bureau of Prisons as well.
No one can guarantee placement in any given facility; that much is true. But AER provides CA prison and DSCC designation staff letters and other documentation from medical professionals, the Court, family members and a client’s legal team specifically designed to influence a favorable designation. If you are going to prison, or are seeking a prison transfer, we are the prison consultants you should call. Most of our staff knows what it’s like to serve time hundreds of miles from friends and family and we will use every means at our disposal to keep that from happening to you.
